Registering 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) phone numbers is a necessary step in today's texting landscape to ensure the continued reliability and effectiveness of text messaging communication. Mobile carriers and industry regulators have mandated this registration to maintain a high standard of service. While this is an industry-wide requirement to register all 10DLC numbers, it's your responsibility to verify your own 10DLC phone number to ensure there are no disruptions to your service. This registration requirement serves to uphold the integrity and performance of text messaging, which remains one of the most powerful and widely used channels for communication and engagement with your customers.

A 10DLC phone number is one that starts with a local area code. Whether you’re a Textedly customer, or you use another texting service, verification is an industry-wide requirement for all phone numbers going forward.

Why do you need to register?

Verifying your 10DLC phone number will help you avoid being blocked by carriers and ensure your messages are delivered every time. You will not be able to send any messages on your 10DLC number until your number has been fully approved by mobile carriers, so the earlier you get this submitted the better! It will take 24-48 hours for full approval from mobile carriers, but you can use your toll-free number in the meantime.

How do you get started?

Step 1 is to ensure that you have your 10DLC phone number in your account. You can select your 10DLC number in the Numbers section of your dashboard. Once you have your 10DLC number on your account, click the blue REGISTER button next to your number within the Numbers tab.

Next, let's start by identifying your messaging volume! There are 3 different volumes you can choose from when registering your 10DLC number.

Sole Proprietor: You are sending up to 3,000 messages per day over all your 10DLC phone numbers. You do not need an Employee Identification Number (EIN) to register for this volume. If you have an EIN number, you MUST register for Low Volume and are not eligible to register at the Sole Proprietor level.

Low Volume: You are sending up to 6,000 messages per day over all your 10DLC phone numbers. You are required to have an Employee Identification Number (EIN) to apply.

Standard: You are sending more than 6,000 messages per day over all your 10DLC phone numbers. You are required to have an Employee Identification Number (EIN) to apply.

Note: In order to acquire a 10DLC you must have a company email that matches your website domain and company name. A gmail.com, yahoo.com, or any third party provided email will not qualify you for a 10DLC.
