How to Use Drip Campaigns

Drip campaigns are a powerful way to automate your messaging strategy. They allow you to send a series of pre-scheduled messages to your contacts based on how long they’ve been subscribed. This means your subscribers receive messages in a timed sequence: day 1, day 3, day 7, and so on, without any manual follow-up needed from you.

What Is a Drip Campaign?

A drip campaign is a set of automated messages that are sent out over time. Once someone subscribes to your designated keyword, they are automatically enrolled and begin receiving the messages in the order and schedule you set. Each message is triggered based on how many days the contact has been subscribed to the keyword.

Getting Started

Here’s how to activate and set up your drip campaign:

  1. Activate the Feature
Go to the App Tools section in your dashboard and enable the Drip Campaign feature. There is an annual fee of $135 to use this tool.

  2. Select a Keyword
Drips are sent based on the time that has passed since a contact has subscribed, so keep this in mind when selecting a keyword. We find it helpful to use a keyword that does not already have subscribers assigned to it. This ensures that all message timing starts from day 1 of the subscription.

  3. Build Your Drip Campaign Messages
Once your keyword is created, you can begin setting up your drip messages. You’ll specify which day each message should be sent (e.g., Day 1, Day 3, Day 5). Be sure to create all messages before adding subscribers.

  4. Add Subscribers
After your messages are fully set up, begin adding subscribers to the new keyword. From this point, your contacts will start receiving the drip campaign messages based on their subscription date.

Drip campaigns are ideal for welcoming new customers, nurturing leads, delivering training or education content, or building anticipation over time. With proper setup, they can save you time, while keeping your audience consistently engaged.
